Alabama Shakes take ‘Sound & Color’ on tour

Powered by guitarist and singer Brittany Howard’s fierce spirit, Alabama Shakes continues to win over new fans with its sophomore release, “Sound & Color.”

The group, who just a few years back was playing cover songs in senior centers in the small town of Athens, Ala., has refined its misfit charm and broken away from the mid-tempo trappings of its first album, 2012’s “Boys & Girls,” to become an expansive, energetic live act that trades in dazzling songs like “Don’t Wanna Fight” and “Gimme All Your Love.”
