Daily Post reports that Sunny Omokaro, a former chairman of the Butchers Association of Nigeria (BAN), led the APC defectors.
Omokaro promised to get the butchers in the state to support the PDP and its candidate.
According to him, he returned to the PDP because Ize-Iyamu’s plans for Edo state were practical and would elevate the state.
The UPP members were led by Patience Ehigiator, a former women leader of the party in the state.
The defectors were received by Emma Ogbomo, the deputy chairman of the PDP in the state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed the election for September 10, but less than 48 hours to the election, it was postponed. The commission cited security concerns as its reason for shifting the election.
The postponement was greeted with extreme repugnance from the PDP. The party siad it was illegal and a coup against the people.
