Motorcyclist death in Highway 101 crash snarls San Jose traffic

A motorcyclist riding south on Highway 101 near San Jose Wednesday crashed into the center median, catapulting the male rider over the guardrail and onto the northbound side of the highway where he was pronounced dead, police said. The accident, reported at 2:15 p.m. on Highway 101 north of the I-880 connector, closed down multiple lanes and was expected to cause traffic delays lasting well into the evening commute, said Officer Ross Lee, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol’s San Jose division. “This is expected to cause lingering traffic backups, especially with the fact that there’s increased traffic today” because of the Thanksgiving holiday, Lee said.
