Vietnamese FM to hold talks with Sergey Lavrov in Moscow

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Binh Minh are set to hold talks in Moscow on Nov. 24. They will discuss expansion of bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, scientific and technological, military-technical and humanitarian areas.

In particular, they will touch upon the topic of Hanoi’s refusal to implement the national nuclear energy program.

“The ministers will sign a plan for cooperation between the foreign ministries of Russia and Vietnam in 2017-18,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Nov. 23.

The visit of the Vietnamese Foreign Minister to Russia is “aimed at promoting cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries, comparing positions on relevant problems of mutual interest on global and regional agenda, strengthening coordination of actions on the international arena,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in the press note.
