Carpenters sue over royalties; Streep and Trump; dogs get social
Grammy winner Richard Carpenter sued Universal Music Group on Wednesday for millions in royalties he contends are owed from licensing Carpenters songs for online services such as iTunes.
Many lawsuits have been filed since a 2010 appellate court ruled in a case involving Eminem’s record label that music downloads from services such as iTunes should result in higher payments to artists.
Sage Boggs, a former writer for “The Tonight Show,” came up with this one, which pretty well summarizes the state of the union this week, as actress Meryl Streep and President-elect Donald Trump got into a, uh, hissing contest, and BuzzFeed published a dossier that included unverified claims about Trump’s relationship with Russia — and its prostitutes.
A study of more than 1,000 dog owners by BarkBox has found that typical owners post a picture or talk about their dog on social media six times per week, and they watch dog videos or look at dog photos three times per week, on average.
