Giants swept at Coors to complete 1-4 ‘Bumgarner trip’

Sunday's 8-0 loss to the Rockies, who completed a three-game sweep at Coors Field, concluded the 1-4 trip that always will be remembered for Madison Bumgarner deciding it would be fun to ride a dirt bike. /Jeff Samardzija fell to 0-4 for the second time in his career after allowing seven runs in 5 1/3 innings, and at 6-13 the Giants are off to their worst 19-game start in 34 years. Samardzija was pitching decently through five when an unfortunate deflection on Nolan Arenado's leadoff grounder in the fifth went for a single that started a five-run cavalcade. Not that it mattered, when a Giants lineup that manager Bruce Bochy shuffled in hopes of finding some offense were shut out by lefty Kyle Freeland and two relievers. With Denard Span injured and the Giants facing the first of four consecutive left-handed starters, Bochy changed the lineup. Belt used an outfielder's glove he borrowed from coach Chad Chop, who got it as a gift from Tim Lincecum. Bochy would not commit to the same lineup against the three Dodgers lefties they will face, because he wants Posey to catch, but he acknowledged he wants to keep Nick Hundley's bat in the lineup and first base is an option. With two outs, Gerardo Parra golfed an attempted back-door slider that leaked over the plate just over the wall in right for a two-run homer and a 3-0 Rockies lead.
