A’s outfielder Rajai Davis back in Cleveland for first time since World Series
CLEVELAND - Rajai Davis drew a sizeable crowd of reporters for a pre-game interview session Monday at Progressive Field, his first game back in Cleveland since hitting one of the biggest homers in Indians’ history here last fall.
How many times has Davis watched that two-run eighth-inning shot in Game 7? “I can’t even count,” he said with a smile.
Davis got a loud ovation as he received his AL championship ring in a pregame ceremony Monday and the Indians played a video tribute on the scoreboard in honor of his Game 7 heroics.
Cleveland manager Terry Francona told reporters Monday morning that he hopes Davis gets a warm welcome “and then strikes out four times.”
The A’s starter, placed on the DL with a right triceps strain Saturday, is scheduled to pitch an inning at Class-A Stockton on Wednesday.
Because Hahn hasn’t missed much time, he won’t need to build his pitch count up from zero, so potentially could be back before the middle of June.
Reliever Sean Doolittle (shoulder) will throw 20 pitches to hitters at extended spring training Tuesday and could head on a rehab assignment after that.
Melvin said that shortstop Marcus Semien, who had wrist surgery April 18, is making flips to second while fielding grounders and might not be far away from making actual throws.
