247 - In the first 200 days of Lula's government (PT), Brazil's international reserves experienced a significant increase, reaching a growth of US$ 22,7 billion. According to information provided by the Central Bank, the reserves balance reached the mark of US$ 347,4 billion on July 18, representing a 7% growth compared to December 31, as reported by Lauro Jardim from O Globo newspaper. By the end of 2022, the country held US$ 324,7 billion in international reserves, the last recorded data during the Bolsonaro government's administration.During Lula's term, international reserves grew at a daily average of US$ 113,6 million, while in the 1,460 days of Bolsonaro's government, the average outflow of resources was US$ 45,073 million per day. Under Bolsonaro's leadership, reserves shrank by US$ 65,8 billion in four years. It was the first time since 2003, when Lula assumed the government for the first time, that international reserves did not increase when comparing the first and last days of each president's term.Although the context is different, it is worth noting that in 2003, when Lula took office as president, Brazil's international reserves totaled US$ 16,3 billion, and eight years later, at the end of his second term, this amount had already reached US$ 288,6 billion.
