Man Utd boss Van Gaal: Rooney must work out slump himself
Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal says only Wayne Rooney can find a way to snap his goalscoring drought.
Rooney has been declared fit to face Everton despite missing England's Euro 2016 qualifiers against Estonia and Lithuania with an ankle injury.
Asked if he was concerned by his drought, Van Gaal said: "Yes, but maybe against Everton that can change. I have heard his average there is not so good. So it's getting time that he changed that pattern.
"I'm a manager who analyses opponents and gives him advice as to how we can disorganise Everton's defence, then maybe he can score.
"He's our captain, so that's very important, because his influence is bigger than every other player in our group."
