Celebrities back the Springboks
Rugby fever is gripping SA ahead of the Springboks' World Cup quarter-final match against Wales.
|||Cape Town - Rugby fever is gripping the country ahead of the Springboks’ World Cup quarter-final match against Wales at Twickenham on Saturday afternoon.
We asked a few local celebrities what they think the boys in green and gold are going to do when the match kicks off at 5pm.
Robin Peterson, Proteas cricketer:
“Wales have had bruising encounters and the Boks are on an upward curve. I’m picking the Boks’ steely resolve to give them the edge.”
24-18 to the Springboks
RJ Benjamin, musician:
“It’s going to be a very close game. I reckon there’s not going to be a lot between the teams, because both are desperate to stay in the tournament. There’s going to be a lot of defensive play.”
19-15 to the Springboks
Kamini Pather, Masterchef SA 2013 winner:
“It’s a difficult game to predict, because I only watch rugby when it’s World Cup time. I do know that the teams have different strategies and that Wales have performed really well. But we have bounced back.”
26-8 to the Springboks
Roger de Sa, Ajax Cape Town coach:
“The best thing that could have happened to us was that our game on Saturday against Platinum Stars has been postponed. Now I have a chance to watch it, which is not good for my nerves.”
20-8 to the Springboks
Carishma Basday, model/actress:
“I won’t be able to watch the match because I’m on set, but my heart will be with the Boks. I have been following the World Cup, and Wales say they are confident that they can beat us. But our boys will win.”
27-13 to the Springboks
