Armenian President, AAA delegation discuss challenges and threats facing country
ArmInfo. Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan received Executive Director of the Armenian Assembly of America Bryan Ardouny Armenian Assembly of America Board of Trustees Co-Chairman Anthony Barsamian and Board President Carolyn Mugar and Director of the Regional Office Arpi Vardanian.
According to the press service of the President of the Republic of Armenia, Khachaturyan noted that he is always glad to receive the delegates of the Assembly and is well acquainted with the effective and important activities that it has been carrying out since the1990s.
The President emphasized that the Assembly has always stood on the side of the state and selflessly implemented and continues to
implement many programs.
During the meeting, Khachaturyan presented to the guests the current security challenges for Armenia, the general situation in the Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiation process. The President noted that Armenia is open in relations with all partners, including the US and EU countries, and has a clear position on establishing a stable and lasting peace in the region.
The President of the Republic emphasized that the work of the Armenian Assembly of America is valuable and important for providing the American and, in general, the international community with objective information about Armenia, our region and the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.
The interlocutors exchanged views on relations between Armenia and neighboring countries, as well as on the general situation in the country. Touching upon the possibility of opening the border with Turkey, Khachaturyan noted that Armenia proceeds from the position of normalizing relations without preconditions and is committed to this approach.
