Famous Haryanvi singer Masoom Sharma was recently booked for singing his song Chambal Ke Daaku at a PU event. He is accused of promoting violence because a student was beaten to death that same night. Masoom Sharma's show was organized after obtaining all the permissions from the Chandigarh administration, but the permission prohibited any song promoting violence, gang culture, liquor, or drugs. The show took place from around 8 to 9:55pm on March 28. Masoom Sharma is booked due to the murder of a second-year student on campus that same night, making the influence of such songs a major concern.
According to the FIR filed by ASI Surender Singh, Masoom crooned Chambal Ke Daku during a live show at UIET, Sector-25, on March 28, 2025. The FIR was officially registered on July 28 under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, at the West Sector Police Station in Chandigarh.
Masoom's show was organized after obtaining all the permissions from the Chandigarh administration, but the permission prohibited any song promoting violence, gang culture, liquor, or drugs through live or recorded music.
Despite all the restrictions, Masoom is accused of performing songs that violated the rules and promoted and deeply encouraged violence. On the same night Masoom performed, a student named Aditya Thakur, a second-year PU student, was allegedly killed on the university campus after being beaten to death, raising serious concerns about the influence of such songs.
Masoom, a prominent figure in the Haryanvi music scene, came under fire after the government banned over 30 songs promoting anti-social behavior. Several of these tracks are associated with him, and further investigation is underway.
