Western Azerbaijan program fiction without international basis - Arman Tatoyan
ArmInfo. The "Western Azerbaijan" program is fictitious; it's a plan to seize Armenia that has no international basis. This was stated in a video address by Armenia's ex- ombudsman and head of the "Wings of Unity" civic initiative, Arman Tatoyan, addressing the Armenian prime minister's statement that he proposes that Baku close the issue of the return of Armenians to Nagorno-Karabakh and the "Western Azerbaijan" issue.
He emphasized that there is no international platform or court where Azerbaijan could successfully appeal this issue. "Ilham Aliyev is well aware of this. The return of Artsakh residents is enshrined internationally as a right, and Azerbaijan has specific obligations," Tatoyan said. As the former ombudsman noted, the International Court of Justice affirmed that Azerbaijan is obligated to ensure the dignified and safe return of the Artsakh people to Nagorno-Karabakh. This has also been stated by the United States, Canada, the EU Council, and others.
"Aliyev is trying to humiliate the entire Armenian people. His problem is the Armenian people. He is on a historical mission - trying to show that there was no Armenia and no Armenian identity. But there is no international basis for all this.
Dear compatriots, do not be sad. There are international mechanisms, mediators, our Diaspora - we support each other, and we will put everything in its place. As soon as Nikol Pashinyan becomes former, we will resolve these issues," Tatoyan noted.
