Armenia, Germany reaffirm their willingness to enhance cooperation in  environmental protection and sustainable development

ArmInfo.Minister of Environment Hambardzum Matevosyan and German Ambassador to Armenia Claudia Busch have reaffirmed their countries' willingness to enhance cooperation and continue a constructive dialogue for environmental protection and sustainable development.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Environment, the  agreement was reached during a joint meeting. The Minister praised the cooperation  between Armenia and Germany, emphasizing that Germany is one of the country's most reliable partners in environmental protection. Matevosyan also noted that bilateral cooperation between the countries is effective and has great potential for further development.

During the meeting, the parties addressed several issues to ensure further mutually beneficial and comprehensive cooperation. The Minister and Ambassador discussed the agenda and organizational issues for the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), including cooperation formats for its preparation, as well as areas for sharing experiences and technical support.

They also discussed the efforts to strengthen and enhance the capacity of Armenia's eco-patrol service, emphasizing the importance of ensuring effective surveillance and protection. The Minister and Ambassador focused on afforestation and forest restoration efforts, as well as Armenia's international commitments in this area. The  importance of restoring forest ecosystems, mitigating climate change, and implementing joint biodiversity conservation initiatives was highlighted.
