The Chinese Foreign Minister held talks with his Azerbaijani counterpart
ArmInfo. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in Beijing on Wednesday.
Wang Yi, also a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, stated that the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership has elevated China-Azerbaijan relations to a new stage of high-quality and comprehensive development.
The Chinese Foreign Minister called on the two sides to maintain contacts at all levels, deepen the exchange of public administration experience, promote cultural and humanitarian exchanges, and strengthen mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.
He stated that the countries should strengthen the alignment of their development strategies and use the high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative as a guide to identifying new areas of convergence of interests and creating new areas of growth for cooperation.
In today's world, which has entered a new period of upheaval and transformation, China and Azerbaijan, as countries of the Global South, must work together to practice genuine multilateralism, uphold the international system with the UN at its core, and promote a more equitable and rational system of global governance, Wang Yi emphasized.
The Chinese Foreign Minister emphasized that China highly appreciates the work accomplished by Azerbaijan during its chairmanship of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) and intends to support Azerbaijan in hosting the CICA summit this year.
J. Bayramov, for his part, noted that the elevated level of bilateral relations last year has given powerful impetus to strategic cooperation between the two countries. Azerbaijan supports four major global initiatives put forward by China and is ready to join the Group of Friends of Global Governance, the minister stated.
Reaffirming Azerbaijan's firm commitment to the one-China principle, he indicated that Azerbaijan is ready to maintain close high-level contacts with China, strengthen interparty exchanges, and expand cooperation in areas such as economics, trade, investment, connectivity, education, tourism, science, and technology.
J. Bayramov also expressed Azerbaijan's intention to deepen coordination with China within multilateral mechanisms, promote the further development of Azerbaijani-Chinese relations, and make an even greater contribution to peace and prosperity in the region. /Xinhua/
