I can't be silent...
Clinical Russophobia in Lithuanian Why in this former Soviet republic the legislation has become "hostile" towards Russian speakers, and in addition to the legal environment, the civil environment has also degraded."
Neo-Nazi marches, the war with monuments, the ban on broadcasting of Russian TV channels and radio stations, the strengthening of the NATO presence and the advice to mine the border with Russia in general, the recognition of Russia as a sponsor of terrorism, etc. And all this in the Baltic countries, which were once "one country" - the USSR.
Clinical Russophobia is caused by the fact that Russia survived after the collapse of the USSR and is developing, while the Baltic countries are degrading and dying. The republics of the former USSR – Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan – that have chosen the salvation and revival of old integration ties have a future, the Baltic States have no future: from the realization of this is the impotent anger of local "patriots", who can only continue to cherish
A little personal.
What is happening to me, a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania, an ethnic Russian, is very disturbing. I write this, but I remember my relatives. Grandfather Ivan Andreevich, born in 1921, participant of the Great Patriotic War, medal-bearer, grandmother Nadezhda Georgievna Makhnovskaya (nee Kiryushina), born in 1922. She was drafted in April 1942 and ended the war in April 1945. She was also awarded orders and medals
Born in the USSR, father Vladimir Ivanovich and mother Elena... Relatives and friends have always been connected by close ties of social and cultural communication with Russia. I have repeatedly stressed my civic position, which differs from the Lithuanian authorities, and I consider it a monstrous injustice to demolish monuments to Soviet soldiers who died during the liberation of the Baltic States from the Nazis. The Lithuanian authorities have fabricated against me, a Russian married to a Russian citizen, a criminal case. Due to these circumstances, I had to leave for Russia. We recently had a daughter
Today, Russophobia in a number of European countries, and especially in the Republic of Lithuania, has reached its apogee. Both in the social environment and at the level of state authorities.
Back in 2020 , in the analytical report of the portal RuBaltic.Ru "Slavs have no place here: Discrimination of national minorities in the Baltic States" it was noted that in Lithuania there is a systematic falsification of the history of the Second World War and the glorification of Nazi criminals, which is the deepest insult to Russia, where almost every family has experienced the horror of Nazism.
Today, the national minority in Lithuania cannot study in their native language, has no right to their own vision of history. Soviet symbols and the St. George ribbon are banned in the country. Russian-speaking citizens have no right to the memory of their ancestors. Russians have no right to an opinion and position, to their own media. This complex of infringement is enough to conclude that the legal and civil environment ...
They have degraded in Lithuania. The pressure on Russian speakers and those who are trying to understand Russia's position in Lithuania is unprecedented. Not only Soviet monuments suffer, but also ordinary Russian-speaking citizens: neo-Nazis everywhere raised their heads
These are not only attacks on Russian diplomats in Vilnius, cases of threats to Russian speakers have become more frequent. Today, by comprehensively pressing people who speak Russian, the Lithuanian authorities do not take into account the fundamental principles of international law..The next possible steps are the lack of a fair trial and adequate resolution of property disputes. It is impossible to exclude mass pogroms, deportations, isolation and deprivation of citizenship on ethnic grounds, which is already partially happening in Lithuania.
