#RIPGuguZulu: Stars highlight Zulu’s ‘love’
As many send condoloscences to the Zulu family, Gugu’s extraordinary love for his wife and child stands out.
|||In the midst of the sadness surrounding the death of car racing champion Gugu Zulu, many are also remembering how he prioritised love.
Among the thousands of tributes that have flooded social media, the way Gugu loved and adored Letshego and their baby girl has stood out.
Radio personality Criselda Dudumashe took to Instagram to share an open letter to Gugu, thanking him for choosing love and for being a great role model for young couples, together with Letshego. It reads:
“Dear Gugu Zulu,
I just want to Thank You for choosing to love and honor your wife and marriage. Thank you for confirming that Love is a commitment, not a feeling.
Thank you for making time with Letshego your priority. Thank you for understanding that time is the “currency of relationships” so thank you for consistently investing time into your marriage.
Thank you for surrounding yourself with friends who strengthened your marriage, they all know that she's your queen. I thank you that as a black man at your memorial we focused on how you touched and impacted on lives positively and not how many women you slept with and made pregnant.
Thank you for making laughter the soundtrack of your marriage. Letshego's smile at the mention of your name bares testimony of moments of joy you left her with, and even in the hard times, to find reasons to laugh.
Thank you for making honesty, commitment and respect for your marriage fashionable. You made love look and seem beautiful as God intended.
Thank you for being an honorable, strong Black Man. Thank you for giving your best to your wife and daughter, not your leftovers after you’ve given your best to everyone else.
God’s plan for your life was masterfully unique! I hope that more young men would strive to become half the man you were for the sake of your sisters troubled by bad men.
Even in death Letshego hears your voice because she trusted you, I hope young couples learn to never lie to each other. Lies break trust and trust is the foundation of a strong marriage.
Through you and your beautiful wife I urge young couples to be patient with each other. Your spouse is always more important that your schedule.
Model the kind of marriage that will make your sons want to grow up to be good husbands and your daughters want to grow up to be good wives. And good human beings.
Learn from Gugu and Litshego, but don’t feel the need to compare your life or your marriage to anyone Else. God’s plan for your life is masterfully unique!
Never talk badly about your spouse to other people or vent about them online. Protect your spouse at all times and in all places. Celebrate your love for each other at all times. “
Jonathan Boynton-Lee also shared a video showing the lovebirds kissing in the street lovingly.
The video was taken for the I AM Joburg campaign, which both Gugu and Letshego were part of.
Taken just days before the couple left for Mount Kilimanjaro, the aim of the campaign was for people to send clips of themselves depicting why they love Joburg.
