ALC Honors Academic Excellence During Spring Awards Convocation
Alice Lloyd College recently held its Spring Awards Convocation in the Estelle Campbell Center for the Arts auditorium. This annual event recognizes students for their academic achievements, leadership, and service to the College and surrounding communities.
The celebration began with an invocation from Philip Bentley, followed by a performance by the Voices of Appalachia Choir. Academic Dean Charles Marshall welcomed the assembly and praised ALC students’ hard work and dedication throughout the academic year.
Dean Marshall also provided updates on several campus projects. He announced that the June Buchanan Alumni Center will undergo a major transformation beginning this summer. Additionally, the creek bank project will include necessary maintenance work, and further renovations to the men’s residence halls are also planned to further enhance student living spaces.
The event also included special guests from Mission of Hope. Dean Marshall introduced Executive Director David Heatherly, who presented Alice Lloyd College with a generous donation. The College is grateful for the ongoing partnership with Mission of Hope and the positive impact it has on ALC students.
Following the presentation, Dean Marshall turned the program over to Emcee Dr. Sara Pitts, who led the awards portion of the convocation. Numerous students were recognized for excellence in their respective academic majors and significant accomplishments in campus organizations and community service initiatives.
