BREAKING: Charlie Kirk Killed in Shooting at Utah Valley University Event

Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, has been killed in a shooting at a campus event at Utah Valley University Wednesday. Kirk had finished his presentation and begun the student Q&A session, according to witnesses, and was speaking with a student about restricting gun ownership for transgender Americans, when he was hit in the neck with a single shot.

“All of a sudden we heard this firecracker go off, and we’re all like, ‘what is that?’… I was looking at Charlie and I saw something hit him on the neck… he fell to the ground immediately,” Morgan, an attendee at the event, told The American Conservative. “Everyone’s screaming bloody murder, telling us to get down.”

“I was like like ten feet in front of him, by Charlie, and I just see him fall back, over,” another attendee told TAC. “I ducked down at that point, didn’t know if he was going to continue shooting or not… everyone started panicking and running out.”

A witness also told TAC that police officers at the event tackled an older white man, suspected of being the shooter, to the ground after the shot was fired.

“We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot. A great guy from top to bottom. GOD BLESS HIM!” President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social after the shooting.

UVU spokesman Scott Trotter released a statement saying the suspect has not yet been taken into custody.

“On September 10, 2025, at 12:20 a single shot rang out in the quad near the food court on the Utah Valley University Orem Campus as Mr. Charlie Kirk began speaking at his planned rally… The suspect is not in custody. Police are still investigating Campus is closed for the rest of the day.”

Kirk was evacuated by medical personnel and pronounced dead later Wednesday afternoon. President Donald Trump posted the news of his death on social media:

The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!
