Armenia`s former defense minister offers Armenia s premier to inspect "unusable missiles"
ArmInfo.Former RA Defense Minister David Tonoyan appealed to RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan
to personally inspect the so-called "unusable missiles."
In his statement received by ArmInfo, the ex-minister noted that
after 2 years and 7 months of unjustified and illegal detention, the
judge of the Anti-Corruption Court of the Republic of Armenia Vahe
Dolmazyan again rejected the defense's request to change the
preventive measure against him. "The submission of the petition was
due to the fact that in the criminal case being considered in the
Anti-Corruption Court of the Republic of Armenia and presented to the
public as the "missile case," the next stage of the trial ended on
April 9, 2024, and the court announced the completion of the judicial
investigation. Even at the initial stage its stage, the body
conducting the preliminary investigation, with its statements, tried
to create in the public environment compromising information about
the condition of the missiles, their cost and other circumstances of
the case, which led to the creation of the impression of my guilt as
an obvious fact, taking into account the assessment of the situation
indicated in the article. annual report of the Human Rights Defender
for 2023, the language about the obvious crime committed and the
guilt of the person should not create a biased perception in terms of
presenting the person's activities as a confirmed fact; in the
absence of a judicial act that has entered into legal force, I
reserve the right to refer to a number of important circumstances
within the limits of already published information," Tonoyan noted.
He noted that until now, to the evidence examined during the trial
and having nothing to do with the charges brought, the Russian-made
missiles were in perfect condition, which was recognized as material
evidence 3 years ago in a case considered by the judge during the
last few court hearings. "During the interrogation, the judge ignored
the requirement to inspect the entire number of missiles mentioned in
my indictment. The judge also ignored my request to inspect the
missiles on site. The court also did not ensure the participation of
an expert in the examination process. Meanwhile, according to the
results of the examination, qualifications disappeared <poor quality
>, "unusable" and "expired", assigned to these missiles by well-known
circles, one conclusion can be drawn: inspection of only part of the
missiles was enough for the latter to form an internal conviction
about their real condition, given my confidence that the Prime
Minister will be. to persecute me, and also realizing that Pashinyan
has problems with trust in specialists, I suggest that he personally
conduct another check of the missiles in question in front of me and,
in the presence of the media, ask me personally questions that
interest him, both on weapons and on other topics of public interest
interest. If the head of a country facing ontological problems has
time to check the quality of the hangers in school closets, let him
find time to "check" the missiles needed to ensure the combat
effectiveness of the Air Force.
Day before the Anti-Corruption Court rejected the defense's request
to change the preventive measure for former Defense Minister David
Tonoyan, he will remain under arrest. David Tonoyan is a defendant in
a criminal case related to abuses in the process of supplying
ammunition. The head of the company supplying weapons to Armenia,
David Galstyan, and the former deputy chief of the General Staff of
the Armed Forces Stepan Galstyan are also accused in this case. The
ex-minister has been in custody since September 2021.
