ARF Dashnaktsutyun Nikol Agbalyan student union protest outside UN  building in Yerevan, demanding assistance for  release of Armenian  prisoners in Baku

ArmInfo. On International Human Rights Day, the ARF Dashnaktsutyun Nikol Agbalyan student union held a protest outside the UN office in Yerevan, calling on  the  organization to assist in the release of Armenian prisoners held in Baku.

Demonstrators arrived at the UN office with photos of Armenians illegally detained in Azerbaijan. "In the 21st century, we are witnessing fabricated trials against Armenian prisoners of war, where their universal rights are violated. Reports we have received about the conditions of detention of Armenian prisoners of war indicate that they are deprived of the right to contact their families for extended periods. Reports also show that their conditions of detention and treatment do not even meet the minimum standards for the treatment of prisoners," the participants' letter to the UN reads.

The letter also urges the UN to immediately intervene in the current situation and facilitate the release of Armenian prisoners of war held in Baku. Those gathered outside the UN building handed the letter  to the UN office in Armenia.
