[AU] Bolt Named RSC Athletic Trainer of the Year
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- The River States Conference is pleased to recognize Asbury University's Andrew Bolt as the 2018-19 RSC Athletic Trainer of the Year. The award was established in 2016-17 to honor outstanding service to student-athletes by athletic trainers. Bolt was selected after a vote by the RSC.
Bolt, who has been Asbury's athletic trainer since 2013-14, was praised for his service, dedication and going above and beyond in his role. As Asbury's head athletic trainer, he serves 16 varsity sports, several JV programs and cheerleading.
His nomination for the award described Bolt as having an immense passion for Asbury athletics and the success and well-being of Eagles student-athletes. It also praised his willingness to travel to numerous away games despite that not being a requirement.
An avid runner, Bolt has competed in the Boston Marathon as well as many other races. Staying involved in fitness has helped him stay aware of the rigors that exercise has on the body and has given him a great understanding of what student-athletes are going through, the nomination said.
The RSC congratulates Bolt for this honor and thanks him for his service to the student-athletes within the conference. He is the second-ever recipient of the award with University of Rio Grande's Tara Gerlach being named each of the last two years.
