[Men's Basketball] Thompson Signs Professional Contract With Vilpas Vikings of Finland
Former Asbury University men's basketball standout Trenton Thompson has signed a professional contract with the Vilpas Vikings of Salo, Finland. The Vikings play in Finland's top level Korisliigia league.
Per the release from Vilpas Vikings, Ville Tuominen, the new head coach of Vilppa, is pleased with the acquisition, as Thompson adds an interesting addition to the league-Vilppa training strength and due to his age, Thompson can also play Vilppa in the league crew with a parallel license if needed. "It's always nice to talk to a player who just wants to play and Trenton was really happy with the arrangement we offered."
Thompson had a stellar senior season with AU and was chosen to the NAIA All-American second team in 2019. It also was the second straight season that he has been selected as an All-American. He also made an appearance in the NAIA All-Star Game in Kansas City back in March.
Thompson led the River States Conference (RSC) in scoring in 2019 with 22.45 points per contest and for his career, averaged 20 points per game.
