Aston Villa continue their 2025/26 Europa League campaign with their fifth league phase fixture on Thursday.
Villa have won three of their four league phase games to date, beating Bologna, Feyenoord and Maccabi Tel Aviv but losing away at Go Ahead Eagles in their most recent Europa League away fixture.
Unai Emery and Villa are back at Villa Park on Thursday to take on Swiss Super League side Young Boys, a team they beat away from home in the Champions League last season.
The Bern outfit are currently in second place in the Switzerland’s top division, six points behind Thun after 14 matches.
They’ve changed manager several times since their last meeting with Villa. Patrick Rahmen faced Emery last year but was sacked and replaced on an interim basis by reserve team boss Joël Magnin.
Giorgio Contini was their next permanent appointment but lasted less than a year before he too was dismissed at the end of October. Gerardo Seoane, the former Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen head coach, is back for a second spell in charge.
Villa’s remaining fixtures in the league phase of the Europa League will pit them against Basel (away) in December before January games against Fenerbahçe (away) and Red Bull Salzburg (home).
What time does Villa v Young Boys kick off?
Villa’s latest league phase match will be played in the early Europa League slot on Thursday.
The early kick-off time is a relatively new experience for Villa, certainly at home, and the boys will be chewing down their pasta a little earlier than they’d like.
Nottingham Forest will be in action in the 8.00pm time slot. They welcome Malmö to the City Ground on Thursday.
Villa v Young Boys will kick off at 5.45pm on Thursday 27th November.
