Mel Stute, trainer of 1986 Preakness winner Snow Chief, dies at 93

Trainer Mel Stute, who won 2,000 races in a career that began in the late 1940s and went until he retired in 2011, died Wednesday at age 93. Stute trained Snow Chief to victory in the 1986 Preakness.
