Rockies release 1B Matt Adams

The Colorado Rockies released veteran first baseman Matt Adams on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old Adams was just 6-for-36 (.167) in 22 games with Colorado.

The Rockies recalled infielder Rio Ruiz in a corresponding move.

Adams has hit 118 homers in parts of 10 seasons but the power stroke has diminished since he hit 20 for the Washington Nationals in 2019. He had two homers in 49 at-bats with the Atlanta Braves last season an
