Top-ranked Barty opens 2022 campaign with comeback win

CANBERRA, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- World number one Ashleigh Barty has started her 2022 tennis season with a win, coming back to beat American Coco Gauff.

Barty, the 2021 Wimbledon champion, rallied from a set down to beat the 17-year-old Gauff 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 at the Adelaide International on Wednesday night.

It was her first competitive match since she was beaten in the third round of the US Open in September, h
