Hang Seng Tech Index rises over 3 pct in new year's Hong Kong stocks rally

HONG KONG, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong's Hang Seng Tech Index, which represents the 30 largest technology companies listed in Hong Kong, rose over 3 percent in the morning session, shortly after opening on Friday, the first trading day in the new year.

Meanwhile, the benchmark Hang Seng Index climbed past 1.60 percent, and the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index jumped over 1.70 percent.
