247 – The Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino, thanked the expressions of solidarity he received after being the target of far-right fake news related to organized crime. In his post on social network X, Dino also said he continues with the same determination in his role. "Since early morning, starting with President Lula and government colleagues, I received thousands of messages of support and solidarity. Colleagues from the legal community; governors, senators, deputies; political parties; civil society; citizens. To each and everyone, I thank you very much. We continue together. The rest is not important. As my late father used to say, 'like a redoxon in an Olympic pool.' I continue in the same way, excited, unafraid, independent, faithful to my principles. And praying every day," he stated. Yesterday, President Lula quickly defended the minister. Learn more:Agência Brasil – President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said on Wednesday (15) that the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino, has been the target of "absurd attacks artificially planted." In a social media post, Lula condemned the fake news being spread about a supposed meeting of Dino with a representative of a criminal faction from Amazonas."He already said and reiterated that he never met with the wife of a faction leader. There is not a single photo, but for several days they insist on the absurd lie," wrote Lula. In the post, the president highlighted the actions of the ministry in defense of democracy, combating "wild armamentism," confronting organized crime, trafficking, and militias, and protecting the Amazon."These actions awaken many adversaries who do not conform to the loss of money and spaces for their criminal actions. Hence the fake news spread in a clearly coordinated action. We reiterate: there will be no retreat in the face of criminals and their allies, wherever they are, whoever they may be," added the president.Last Monday (13), the newspaper O Estado de S.Paulo reported that secretaries of the Ministry of Justice received, within the headquarters of the ministry in Brasília, the wife of a faction leader. According to the publication, Luciane Barbosa Farias, known as the "Amazonian drug lady," met with National Secretary of Legislative Affairs Elias Vaz on March 19, and with National Secretary of Penal Policies Rafael Velasco Brandani on May 2.In response to the newspaper, the Ministry of Justice informed that Luciane was part of a delegation of lawyers and that it was "impossible" for the intelligence sector to detect her presence beforehand. Secretary Elias Vaz took responsibility and, through social networks, informed that he received a meeting request from Janira Rocha, former state deputy in Rio de Janeiro and vice-president of the Penitentiary Affairs Committee of the National Association of Criminal Advocacy (Anacrim).According to him, Luciane was accompanying Janira and limited herself to talking about alleged irregularities in the penitentiary system, representing the Amazonas Liberty Institute Association. "For this reason, it was suggested to lawyer Janira Rocha to seek the National Secretary of Penal Policies. I have a long parliamentary and political trajectory, always marked by seriousness. I attended lawyer Janira Rocha and companions because I know the said professional and she wished to speak about homicide victims. I repudiate any abject and politically motivated involvement of my name with criminal activities," stated Elias Vaz.Fake news - In the report by O Estado de S.Paulo, there is no reference to Flávio Dino receiving Luciane, only that she was in meetings within the ministry. However, the story has been reverberating in the media and social networks, with associations that, according to Dino, occur due to "vile politicking."The minister also spoke out on social networks and stated that Elias's story is the true one. He said, moreover, that he will sue the authors of the lies."I have never received, in an audience at the Ministry of Justice, a leader of a criminal faction, or their spouse, relative, or neighbor. Absurdly, they simply invent my presence at a meeting that did not take place in my office," wrote Flávio Dino. "Yes, I will sue the authors of the lies. In fact, I was warned by a journalist that the next 'journalistic news' is that I have connections with the PCC," he said in another post. This Tuesday (14), the Ministry of Justice and Public Security published a decree with stricter rules for the entry of visitors to the Palace of Justice, headquarters of the ministry, and annexes. According to the document, to be received in a public appointment, the interested party must notify 48 hours in advance, via institutional email, the names and CPFs of all participants and companions of the agenda. Additionally, the entry of visitors to the ministry's premises must be preceded by contact from the receptionist with the destination office, who will authorize, or not, their entrance. If there is no prior scheduling, interested parties will be attended at the reception, and entry will only be allowed after identification and authorization by the authority responsible for the agenda.Besides the meetings at the Ministry of Justice, Luciane Barbosa Farias was in Brasília on November 6 and 7 for the Meeting of Committees and Mechanisms for the Prevention and Combat of Torture (CNPCT), with travel and daily allowances paid by the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship. In a statement, the ministry clarified that the costs were covered for all participants of the national event, with its own budget reserved for the National Committee for the Prevention and Combat of Torture (CNPCT). The participants of the meeting were indicated by the state committees, in Luciane's case, as a representative of civil society by the committee of Amazonas."It is worth noting that the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship is composed of 11 collegial bodies that, like the CNPCT, have administrative and budgetary autonomy," stated the ministry, clarifying that the event was attended by more than 70 people from all over Brazil. For the Minister of Human Rights and Citizenship, Silvio Almeida, it is evident that these "defamatory attacks, clearly coordinated," are primarily targeting the "courageous work" that Minister Flávio Dino is carrying out at the head of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security."There is also behind this a generalized attempt, by far-right extremists, to constantly fabricate scandals and undermine the reconstruction of the human rights policy, as they can only offer chaos and destruction to the country. At a time when Brazil is getting back on track, certain figures, in desperation, try to link the government to organized crime," wrote Almeida on social network X (formerly Twitter).
