Presidential alert test works for some, not for others

FEMA is calling its first test of the new presidential alert system a success. The mass cell phone blast went out at 2:18 p.m. ET Wednesday. The presidential alert is meant for extreme circumstances like terror attacks or tsunamis. But the test wasn't perfect. Anna Werner reports.

Indonesian Marines are pouring into the area devastated by an earthquake and tsunami to help with rescues. The death toll climbed to more than 1,420. Indonesia has still not evacuated all of the injured, six days after the disasters. Ben Tracy reports from Palu, Indonesia.

Gunman ambushes South Carolina police, killing 1 and wounding 6

A South Carolina city is stunned after a gunman ambushed police, killing one and wounding six others. The four police officers from Florence and three sheriff's deputies were shot outside a house. Officer Terrence Carraway died in the gunfire. A suspect is in custody but has not been identified. David Begnaud reports.
