Municipal Announces Its First Slide Style Ahead of Summer
The athleisure brand's first addition to its new footwear line is the Podium Slide, which will be released on March 19.
As Mark Wahlberg’s Municipal approaches its fifth anniversary, the athleisure is adding a new shoe style to its line; the Podium Slide.
Municipal’s first slip-on slide will hit the stores on March 19 and will retail for $89. The style features M.Float technology, which is also used to build the brand’s Origin Shoe. Its comfortability and performance are delivered through a multi-layered cushioning system, which provides the support of an everyday sneaker.

Coming in five colorways, the Podium Slide takes on a sleek design that is versatile for multiple occasions. The casual silhouette features a black felt footbed with a groove along the toe area, allowing the foot to stay in place without support in the back. Branding lays against the strap and paneled sole, along with handwritten lettering that reads “M Float” just above a ribbed heel panel.

This launch comes five months after the brand released its first sneaker, the Origin. Along with his business partners Harry Arnett and Stephen Levinson, Wahlberg partnered with StreetTrend to create the unisex style.
Arnett originally hinted at the release when he spoke with FN in December. The co-founder shared that there will be three footwear drops this year, with the slide being the first to “blow people’s minds.” The next two styles will be sport-focused, with an all-terrain concept shoe for golfers and a comfort-performance court shoe for basketballers.

Before launching the athleisure brand, Wahlberg’s shoe collection was famously known to take up much of his Las Vegas office. His sneaker obsession awarded him collaborations with other top brands like Jordan, which was one of the actor’s inspirations behind Municipal stepping into the footwear space. His green Wahlburgers Air Jordan shoe is now one of the most expensive Jordan sets ever, with a resale value of $25,000.
