Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are trying to turn Qatar into a puppet state. Their criticisms of Doha are fake news: they have, for example, done far more to underwrite terrorism. Rather, these corrupt, authoritarian monarchies want to stifle criticism and dominate the Persian Gulf.
