The Origin Of The “Dolphin-Safe” Tuna Label

In the 1980s, a biologist went undercover on a commercial tuna fishing vessel to capture footage of dolphins dying at the hands of the tuna industry. The graphic footage triggered a tuna boycott from which the dolphin-safe tuna label was born.
