Alvin Hellerstein, a 92-year-old US judge nominated by former US president Bill Clinton, is handling the case against newly deposed Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro. A graduate of Columbia University law school, Hellerstein has overseen many high-profile cases and has been handling Maduro's file since his indictment in 2020.
