[Baseball] Henson, Hardman earn All-KCAC recognition
WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University sophomore Zeke Henson (SO/Raymore, Mo. ) has been selected as an All-KCAC Baseball honorable-mention performer and junior Buster Hardman (JR/American Fork, Utah) is a gold glove recipient, the league office announced today (May 2).
In his first season as a Falcon, Henson lengthened the lineup immeasurably, batting a team-high .354 and leading the team with 36 runs driven in.
The Raymore, Mo. native also hit three homers and posted a team-leading .528 slugging percentage along with a solid .424 on-base-percentage.
Henson saved his best performance for the most critical stages of the season, going 5-of-5 with three runs scored and three RBIs in a 19-9 victory over Tabor College last Saturday (Apr. 29) that proved to seal the Falcons' spot in the KCAC postseason tournament this week.
A sure-handed glove along the infield, Hardman made a smooth transition to shortstop this season and tallied a .983 fielding percentage.
"I'm very happy for Zeke and Buster," said Friends head coach Adam Neisius. "Zeke really came on in the second half of the season and ended up having a great year. Buster has been amazing all year at shortstop, incredible to only have four errors all year at that position. Excited to have both of them back next year."
The opening postseason matchup for the Falcons will be a rematch from this past weekend against third-seeded Tabor College. First pitch is scheduled for 3 pm on Wednesday. A win over the Bluejays would move the Falcons into a winner's bracket game Thursday at 11 am vs. second-seeded McPherson College.
