Before the 2025 Emmy predictions are announced on July 15, let's check in one last time with Gold Derby's picks in 25 top categories covering drama, comedy, limited series/TV movie, reality, variety, and animated.
As has been the case for several months, buzzy dramas are expected to spread the wealth in the main categories, with Severance Season 2 forecasted to win Best Drama Series, The Pitt's Noah Wyle out front in Best Drama Actor, and Matlock's Kathy Bates poised to make history as the oldest winner of Best Drama Actress.
But there's a last-minute shake-up in the predicted nominations, as Squid Game has ascended into the top seven for Best Drama Series, while scene-stealer Choi Seung-hyun (Thanos/Player 230) has cracked the list of likely Best Drama Supporting Actor nominees. Season 2 of the Netflix survival drama is eligible at the 2025 Emmys, even though Season 3 just streamed two week ago.
Elsewhere, The White Lotus' Carrie Coon and Walton Goggins are holding steady in the No. 1 positions for Best Drama Supporting Actress/Actor, and The Last of Us' Kaitlyn Dever and Jeffrey Wright are predicted to take a zombie-bite out of Best Drama Guest Actress/Actor.

Last year's comedy winner, Hacks, is again the one to beat for Best Comedy Series, per our odds. Jean Smart is expected to win her fourth Best Comedy Actress contest, costar Hannah Einbinder is finally tapped to claim an Emmy of her own in Best Comedy Supporting Actress, and Julianne Nicholson has danced her to way to the top of the Best Comedy Guest Actress race.
One category where Hacks isn't fielding a contender is Best Comedy Actor, opening the door for The Studio's Seth Rogen to become the odds-on favorite. Meanwhile, costar Bryan Cranston, trading his Breaking Bad meth lab for a cushy studio head gig, is the front-runner in Best Comedy Guest Actor. Finally, Best Comedy Supporting Actor is once again led by The Bear's Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who prevailed the past two years.
In the limited series categories, Adolescence is predicted to dominate the nominations including for predicted Best Supporting Actor/Actress champions Owen Cooper and Erin Doherty. The Best Actor/Actress races look to be a one-two punch for Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti for the DC Comics adaptation of The Penguin. Fun fact: even though Farrell is expected to best Stephen Graham for acting, the latter could still win Emmys for producing and writing Adolescence.
