Tari Eason to undergo season-ending surgery
Tari Eason’s second NBA season, hampered by injury since the preseason and oft-delayed as he tried to come back, is over. Eason will have surgery to treat a growth on his left leg on Monday that will keep him out for the next four months, Rockets coach Ime Udoka said on Saturday. “He had obviously been going through some things through the year and had a benign growth on the shin bone, the tibia I think,” Udoka said. “Took that blow early in the season. Flared up. He played through it with some pain. Never had a chance of fracturing. It was a pain tolerance thing. Once the pain got too high, he shut it down.

More on this storyline
David Hardisty: Ime Udoka said again that the things he has stressed to the team since the All-Star break are: – Offensive rebounding rate / 2nd-chance points – Fast break pace – Take 40 threes a game He said they are missing Tari on the boards, but he singled out Jabari as having “taken the biggest jump.” -via Twitter @clutchfans / February 29, 2024
David Hardisty: Ime Udoka on the Tari Eason situation and whether he will be shut down for the season: “It’s strictly based off of the results of the latest imaging that he’s gotten and the pain tolerance. He played through some pain earlier (in the season). He played well, but as he continued to play in games adding up, it started to bother him a little more, so we shut it down. During the ramp-up process, he started to feel some of the same pain, even with some significant time off. So that’s why he’s getting it looked at now, and based on pending results, we’ll determine what we’re going to do moving forward.” -via Twitter @clutchfans / February 22, 2024
Adam Spolane: No changes to the Rockets injury report as of 2:30. Eason is out, Bullock remains questionable. Brandon Ingram (illness) is questionable for New Orleans -via Twitter @AdamSpolane / February 22, 2024
