Forward Otto Porter Jr. has retired from the NBA, he announced today. “For the past 11 years, I had the chance to live my lifelong dream of playing in the NBA,” said Porter Jr. “That dream was capped by winning an NBA Championship! Unfortunately, my body is not allowing me to play at the level that I expect of myself, and I have therefore decided to retire.”

Otto Porter started Games 4, 5, and 6 of the 2022 Finals … then started three games the rest of his career. Could have played many more years if it weren’t for the constant injuries, but got his body right just long enough to get a ring. – 9:29 PM

Jazz would likely need to waive Otto Porter to add both Lofton and Bazley contracts. Other roster spot would presumably be created by releasing Kinsey early from his 10-day – 1:17 PM

Porter was often injured during his tenure with Toronto, playing just 23 games combined over two seasons with the Raptors. But now that he’s fully healthy, according to league sources, Porter could potentially help another team in position to compete for a championship. The Jazz, since the trade deadline, are committed to playing rookie forward Taylor Hendricks major minutes, to evaluate him for the offseason. As a result, the team is allowing Porter the freedom to evaluate his next steps. -via The Athletic / February 23, 2024
