Mitchell Robinson to return soon
Of the three big injured players for the Knicks, Mitchell Robinson, as expected, is the closest to a return, Thibodeau indicated. The center, a full participant in a practice last week, “is moving quite well” and “just needs a little bit more time.” When a reporter asked if that meant Robinson would return before Julius Randle and OG Anunoby, Thibodeau said coyly, “Assuming your assumption is correct, yes.” Robinson missed his 50th straight game Monday after undergoing surgery to repair a stress fracture in his ankle.

OG Anunoby and Mitchell Robinson have both been ruled OUT of Monday’s game vs. Detroit.
Certainly not encouraging that OG is still being ruled out more than 24 hours prior to each game, but it’s also possible NY is erring on the side of caution b/c they are playing a bad Pistons… – 4:49 PM

Tim Bontemps: Before tonight’s game, Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau said Julius Randle continues to do controlled contact work but hasn’t progressed, said OG Anunoby got up some shots at shootaround today before tonight’s game against Detroit and said Mitchell Robinson continues to make progress. -via Twitter @TimBontemps / March 25, 2024
Mitchell Robinson could not believe his bad luck. The 7-footer was playing better than ever, and one misstep nearly ruined his season. “I felt like I was finally getting in shape to the top of my career right there,” Robinson said. “And the next thing you know, (I) just went down and I wanted to throw s—.” -via The Athletic / March 22, 2024
Unfortunately, he was not. Less than five minutes into the third quarter in Boston, Robinson exited the court. He underwent ankle surgery shortly after and has not played since. “I’m like man, brah, I’m trying to figure out ways to stop it from happening the best ways that I can,” Robinson said, referencing his 2021 foot injury that required offseason surgery. “And it’s like one thing after one thing.” -via The Athletic / March 22, 2024
