-Same goes for Robert Covington. Nurse said he could be close to a return.
-De’Anthony Melton is still on a pain tolerance thing at the moment. #Sixers – 5:56 PM

Yesterday, there was some buzz on Philly sports Twitter around the idea that the Sixers should NOT bring Joel Embiid back for the playoffs.
So, here’s a column making the counter-argument:
of course they should bring Embiid back for the playoffs

I keep seeing the point that the Sixers *should* put Embiid on ice for the rest of the year, which is driving me crazy.
It was supposed to be a 6-8 week recovery. Looks like they are going to take at least eight weeks. But if he’s good to go, you play him point blank period. – 4:11 PM

If things continue to go as they are — Kings are up 18 with 5:02 left in the 3rd — Nick Nurse might want to waive the white flag early in this one. Sixers are in the middle of 3 games in 4 days, have to travel back to Philly and it’s clear nobody outside of Maxey has any juice. – 11:45 PM

To answer your second question, his value will likely go down toward the end of his deal if he continues to suffer major injuries. Even then, teams that are one dominant piece away from winning a title would still trade for him. Players of Embiid’s caliber are few and far between. Before the injury, Embiid put up numbers not seen in the NBA since Wilt Chamberlain. And at 80%, he’s still one of the league’s best players. Most teams in the league would love to have him, healthy or not. -via The Philadelphia Inquirer / March 22, 2024
