Jamal Murray to play for Canada at upcoming Olympics
Missing out on joining the Canadian national team at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, Jamal Murray looked from home the great run that led to Jordi Fernandez’s squad winning the bronze medal, earning a spot in this summer’s Olympics. Commenting on such a great appointment, he confirmed his will to participate. “I’m excited to be there”, he said to Eurohoops. “We have a great squad, was great to see them win a medal [at the 2023 FIBA World Cup]. Hopefully, we can go our way and win gold this summer”, he also commented.

With Jamal Murray not playing tonight, the Wolves had Jaden McDaniels, who normally guards Murray, on Michael Porter Jr. — so we got the rare off-ball Jaden game.

Jamal Murray went through a pregame shooting workout again tonight. Again, he looked pretty good, but Michael Malone said pregame that he’s not yet cleared to play. It sounds like Murray will miss Sunday’s game vs. Cleveland but will return before the playoffs start. – 8:40 PM

More on this storyline
Touching on Canada’s potential, he expressed excitement underlining the national team’s underrated assets. “I’m excited to see the group we have. We’ve got so many underrated guys on the team, that you don’t really pay attention to, who can impact the game in many ways”, he said. “I don’t follow EuroLeague, but that’s my guy”, he said on his former teammate PJ Dozier. “I reached out to him a couple of times, he’s doing his thing out there. I know the Euro-life is a little different, but he’s enjoying it. I’d love to have him over here, we had a lot of fun when he was here”, he added. -via EuroHoops.net / March 30, 2024
Speaking before the game, Denver coach Michael Malone said Murray was improving but “he’s just not ready to go out there and compete at the level that we need him to.” Malone hinted that Murray might also miss the Nuggets’ Sunday matinee against the Cleveland Cavaliers, but said he wasn’t worried that his star point guard would be out for much longer. “I do think he will be back on the court before the playoffs start” in mid-April, Malone said. -via ESPN / March 30, 2024
Katy Winge: Jamal Murray will not play tonight for Denver. Malone says he’s getting better but Murray isn’t ready to go out and compete at the level the Nuggets need him to quite yet. It’s a combination of ankle, shins, and knee bothering him. -via Twitter @katywinge / March 29, 2024
