Police investigating fatal shooting in NW Oklahoma City
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - Police are investigating a deadly shooting in a northwest Oklahoma City neighborhood.
“I feel like crying right now. You know, it's just… It makes me feel scared,” said Jesenia Roman who lives nearby.
The Oklahoma City Police Department confirmed one woman was killed and another victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Angel Stevens, who also lives nearby, told KFOR she was hanging up a curtain in her home near Northwest 10th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue around 1 a.m. on Friday.
“And heard three shots…There was the 'boom, boom, boom' and I looked, they were running and I ducked,” said Stevens. “This is dangerous out here in this neighborhood, you know. Bullets don't have eyes."
According to police, the ordeal started as some sort of get-together before taking a violent turn.
"The building does appear to be a vacant building, and there was a gathering here, I don't know what type of gathering they were having here,” said Lt. Robert Allen with OKCPD. “There was a shooting, and one victim was on the scene deceased and another victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition."
At last check with police, that victim is still in critical condition. Investigators also say they took possible witnesses in for questioning.
According to neighbors, there always seems to be trouble with the building this happened near.
“It's all bad, bad energy,” said Roman. “It's very bad."
So far, police haven’t arrested anyone for the shooting. No information about the suspect is available yet.
