Oklahoma City Police investigate deadly shooting at metro hotel
A woman is dead after a shooting at a metro hotel early Monday morning.
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - A woman is dead after a shooting at a metro hotel early Monday morning.
"She's a very sweet woman,” said Freddie Halstied, who lives in the area. “I just can't believe what had happened."
Halstied told KFOR he’s in disbelief after learning his friend had died. He had just been hanging out with her at the Relax Inn near NE 23rd and MLK Sunday night.
"And next thing I woke up this morning and she got shot,” said Halstied. “I seen it on the news. I don't understand what's going on."
Oklahoma City Police officers responded to the shooting around 4 a.m. Monday morning.
"When officers arrived they found a female there. She'd been shot multiple times. She was transported to an area hospital,” said Mgst. Gary Knight, with OKCPD.
The victim had an emergency surgery, but died from her injuries.
Meanwhile, the person behind the trigger fled the scene.
Police said what led up to the gunfire is still a mystery.
"We don't know whether this was an altercation, or whether this was somebody who just fired into a room we don't know,” said Knight. “But, the woman was inside of a hotel room when she was shot."
Halstied said he was friends with the victim for more than ten years. According to him, the area is extremely dangerous.
"There's so much drugs and everything going on over here. It's pathetic,” said Halstied. “We have got to stop killing people, man. You know, I don't know why she got shot. She's a little old woman, man and it's not right."
At last check, no one has been arrested in connection to the shooting.
