LinkedIn suffers widespread outage Wednesday
There are widespread reports of an outage affecting the professional networking site LinkedIn Wednesday afternoon.
(KRON) -- An hourlong outage knocked down professional networking site LinkedIn Wednesday afternoon, prompting a flood of reported access issues.
By 12:55 p.m. PDT, there were more than 48,000 reports of users not being able to access their LinkedIn accounts, according to outage tracker Downdetector. Since the site only counts self-reported issues, the number of people affected could have been far greater.
Global internet monitor NetBlocks reported that the outage affected people in several countries outside the U.S. as well.
Many users took to X and posted a screenshot of the simple message they received upon trying to load the site: "An error has occurred."
The Microsoft-owned network said in a statement roughly ten minutes later that "some members may be experiencing issues on LinkedIn."
By 2:05 PDT, service was restored and LinkedIn thanked users for their patience. The cause of the outage wasn't immediately clear.
LinkedIn was founded in 2003 in the San Francisco Bay Area. It has offices in San Francisco and Mountain View. Its headquarters are in Sunnyvale.
On Tuesday, there was a nationwide Meta outage in which users could not access their Facebook and Instagram accounts.
