City of Newcastle cuts ribbon for new animal shelter

Tails were wagging as the city of Newcastle cut the ribbon for their new animal shelter on Monday.

NEWCASTLE, Okla. (KFOR) - Tails were wagging as the city of Newcastle cut the ribbon for their new animal shelter on Monday.

"It's incredibly important for the city council and the citizens that we're a community and we can't be a community without taking care of all of the parts of the community." said Mayor of Newcastle, Karl Nail.

Mayor Nail emphasized the need to take care of our animals and how important it is to not overlook their needs.

According to officials, the new facility is more than 4,300 square feet and has plenty of room to house dogs and cats. The shelter also features an outdoor play area as well as room to expand if needed.

One fluffy friend, named Ernie, who was in attendance is already on his way to being adopted.
