Critical Fire Danger Wednesday, Severe Storms Possible Through Thursday

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Today will be very warm and windy with highs soaring to the low to mid 80s. A dryline will surge east, close to I-35.

West of the dryline, winds will increase to 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph out of the southwest. Combined with a relative humidity under 20% and plenty of available fuel, a fire would spread rapidly.

There's a marginal risk of severe storms along and east of the dryline this evening through overnight. It's a conditional and low risk due to a strong cap. Should a storm form, large hail would be the main threat.

A cold front will sweep across the state Thursday, sparking showers and storms, mainly south of the I-44 corridor. The best chance of storms will be in southeastern Oklahoma where large hail, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes are possible.

Cooler weather will follow on Friday with highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

There's a low rain chance for western Oklahoma Friday afternoon and evening. Isolated showers or areas of drizzle will be possible Saturday with highs in the mid 60s. Saint Paddy's Day will be partly sunny and cooler in the low 60s, with a breezy north wind.
