OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – An Arkansas student has added himself to the short list of winners able to hit the half-court shot in the Paycom Center.
Cody Hoover, an 18-year-old student from Mount Vernon, hit the MidFirst Bank Half-Court Shot Contest during an Oklahoma City Thunder game Wednesday.
The shot netted Hoover a $20,000 reward, which he said he plans to use to “buy something cool for his parents.”
Hoover is the first fan to make the half-court shot this season and only the 20th since the contest started in 2008, according to a Thunder spokesperson.
Arkansas wasn’t only represented on the court by fans, but also in the players as former Razorback Basketball star Jaylin Williams put three points in the scorebooks.
The Thunder defeated the Utah Jazz, 119-107.
