OKC Fire announce new medical transport service

On Tuesday, the Oklahoma City Fire Department (OKCFD) announced the partnership with Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) for a new emergency medical transport service.

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - On Tuesday, the Oklahoma City Fire Department (OKCFD) announced the partnership with Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) for a new emergency medical transport service.

According to OKCFD, the new service will provide supplemental medical transportation alongside the primary agency EMSA after the City Council approved a contract for services within the Oklahoma City limits.

The OKCFD initiative is expected to increase emergency medical services for the residents of Oklahoma City while operating in conjunction with EMSA, to further bolster the ability to respond swiftly and effectively to medical emergencies.

"The introduction of our supplemental medical transport service underscores our commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents," said Chief Richard Kelley of the Oklahoma City Fire Department. "By serving in unison with EMSA, our goal is to provide seamless and efficient medical transportation to those in need."

The OKCFD's medical transport service will operate four (4) advance life support units 24/7, complementing the existing high level emergency medical services provided by EMSA.

The goal of OKCFD is set to begin service in late May, early June.
