32-year-old arrested for murder of 18-year-old Lyric Lewis
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — 32-year-old Devin Damone Stallings was arrested Wednesday for killing 18-year-old Lyric Lewis in a shooting in Downtown Oklahoma City.
Lewis had been shot in the chest and later died at a nearby hospital.
Court documents give details about what led up to the shooting, but plenty of questions remain.
"Officers here at the scene at Harkins located a pool of blood in the parking lot behind the theater, along with the shell casing," Lt. Jeff Cooper with the Oklahoma City Police Department said.
Oklahoma City Police arrived at the scene behind Harkins Theater after 911 calls came in reporting shots fired.
"When officers arrived, the victim had already been removed from the scene," Gary Knight with OKCPD said. "Citizens had loaded her into a private vehicle, driven her to a hospital."
Lewis was shot in the chest, but police don't believe she was the intended target.
"Unfortunately, she passed away as a result of her injuries, and she was pronounced dead there at the hospital," Knight said. "There were a lot of people out there, and we don't know if she was the intended target or whether it was something other than that."
Court documents detail two vehicles parked in the eastbound lanes of Oklahoma City Boulevard. Stallings got out of a red pickup, then ran toward the group of people outside the theater.
Witnesses say they saw him fire into the crowd, run back to the truck, and drive away.
Police were able to identify and track down the vehicle, discovering that it belonged to Stallings' parents.
OKCPD says records show a recent call on Tuesday, June 10, describing Stallings as physically violent and driving a red pickup truck.
Online court records also reveal that Stallings was convicted of armed robbery back in 2011, and that he had a protective order filed against him in 2022 that was later dismissed.
Police are still working to figure out who Stallings was after that night and why.
"We're trying to piece together everything that led up to her being shot and killed," Knight said. "So, that's why it's so imperative to us to get information from the public."
Stalling is in the Oklahoma County Jail, facing a first-degree murder charge.
