Free medical care coming to Enid July 12-13
ENID, Okla. (KFOR) - Free medical care is available this weekend in Enid. A pop-up clinic will offer dental, vision and other medical services Saturday and Sunday.
"I don't need ID, I don't need insurance, you can come up to me and tell me your name is Bugs Bunny and I'm still going to bring you in, I'm going to give you quality health care that you need and I'm not going to ask you any questions about it," Clinic Coordinator for Remote Area Medical (RAM) Brad Sands said.
Sands with the nonpofit RAM lets you know he's got you covered. If you free need medical care, July 12 and 13 are the days to get it at their clinic in Enid. It will be at the Stride Bank Center off Independence. They'll offer everything from tooth extractions and cleanings to physical exams and vision screenings.
"It's a great way for patients to get the care that they need that they've not been able to get that access to," Sands said.
It's first come, first served with the clinic parking lot opening before midnight on July 11. You'll want to be prepared to wait though.
"A lot of folks will come and camp out overnight, bring blankets, bring pillows, bring medicine that you might need in the morning, bring snacks," Sands said.
The doors will open at 6 a.m. both days and they'll accept patients until they hit capacity. That can vary depending on how many physicians and dentists they have on site. Most patients they see lack some kind of insurance coverage and are overdue for care. Sands said they're ready to care for as many as they can.
"Looking forward to bringing them some care," Sands said.
Something to note, Sunday will be a half day for services so they can get back to their HQ in Tennessee and restock for the next trip. So, they recommend getting there as early as possible.
